What We Do

At Calyx, we focuses on two areas of development: building a privacy and security ecosystem with software development and affordable internet access and sustaining our community through grants and research and education initiatives.

We provide the Calyx Hotspots for people to access the internet easily without invasive tracking and data harvesting. Putting data privacy first, we build and maintain a digital ecosystem of free and open-source software (FOSS), centering CalyxOS, that enables people to enjoy their lives online with security, data privacy, and dignity.

Along with tool development, we are also actively engaging with the diverse stakeholders in our community to expand literacy on digital security and build vocabulary around privacy. Through grant making, we offer direct support to organizations and collectives that strive to protect privacy, digital security, and internet freedom. In addition, we seed research and education as a core programmatic component in our various projects and initiatives and partner with our peers, funders, and service providers to form a collective effort toward a privacy-and-rights-respecting future of technology.
